Anonymous Story 15

“After being informed of multiple sexual assaults in 2018, Company let the male (accused assaulter) continue to rehearse and perform, but told the females (victims and accusers) that they had the choice to either: rehearse and perform with the male dancer or forfeit their dance scenes in an upcoming production and have other female dancers learn and perform their parts.

Police, Lawyers, and Company Board were involved and it was very frustrating to have to dance and partner with a suspected rapist/assaulter. There were full company meetings that vaguely addressed the situation which was strange. It was a uneasy and stressful work environment and many of the dancers were confused and concerned about what was actually going on. Company started separating dancers by sex in the building during the workday, keeping most of the female dancers in a small, closed dressing room for hours at a time.”
