“I was given the end of show solo in year 11. It had been a hard year for me personally and I was so proud of myself for getting this solo. After it had been announced to everyone that I would be performing the solo, the other dance teacher found me in the bathroom later that day to tell me that I didn’t deserve it and that others were far prettier than me and had better technique. She said she never would have chosen me but “for some reason” the other teacher saw something in me so I “better not disappoint”.”
